A Dog-Friendly List of San Antonio Condos for Sale
Check out my new San Antonio dog-friendly Condo list.
by Randy Watson
Hi, my name is Randy Watson and I am a self-confessed dog lover. I am also a real estate agent with Mission Realty, in San Antonio.
Texans love their dogs and cats... and here in San Antonio we are no exception. Dogs and cats are loved everywhere, except it gets a little tricky when it comes to buying real estate that accepts your pets. Especially when looking to buy: condominiums, townhomes and villas; since each may have its own rules and regulations regarding pets. Single family homes have fewer, if no restrictions regarding pets. (A word of caution, some HOA's, even towns/cities may have dog restrictions.)

Water in the Creek, Progress in the Garden
by Celia Hayes

Well, it’s been another quiet week in Spring Creek Forest, the little suburb that time forgot… I am improving my little patch of it as fast as I can and as the growing season allows. We were assisted last week by rain… lots and lots of rain. There actually was running water in Salado Creek. And since it was running over the path, we needed to wade through it – up to our shins, and with a perceptible current, too. Yes, we like to walk on the wild side, what with the mad risk-taking and all. The Weevil thoroughly enjoyed a romp through the water, and when she flushed a couple of…

Nature's Critters
by Celia Hayes
We were walking the dog this morning, when we noticed two of our neighbors deep in conversation in the driveway. The object of conversation seemed to be an occupied Hava-Hart trap, and naturally being terribly curious about anything going on in our neighborhood, we went over and joined the conversation, discovering that the occupant of the trap was a mature and deeply unhappy opossum. This was not entirely unexpected around here, actually. Possums turn up all the time – in fact, before we acquired the dogs, there were several of them that hung out in my back yard, going so far as to help themselves to the cat food that I put out for the outdoor cat. The cat, by the way, was perfectly amiable towards the opossum, as…

The Edwards Aquifer - San Antonios Primary Water Source
Written by Randy Watson, Texas Real Estate Agent with Mission Realty

So, just what is this Edwards Aquifer that I hear so much about? And why is the level of the Edwards Aquifer important enough to post everyday along with the weather. SAWS, the San Antonio Water System, supplies nearly 2 million people in surrounding San Antonio homes and businesses with clean drinking water, primarily from the Edwards Aquifer. Our area lakes are not used by the City of San Antonio as reservoirs to supply drinking water.
The Edwards Aquifer is an underground body of water with sufficient pressure to be considered an artesian aquifer. Not so much like a river or lake or some other body of water you…

Along the (Other) Riverwalk

So in the process of exploring Phil Hardberger Park a little bit at a time over the last three or four Sundays - being that we have taken the dog to the dog-park there for a vigorous romp, followed by a brisk walk along one of the trails - last week, we thought we should explore the Salado Creek Greenway, which rambles from the old Voelcker farmstead buildings more or less north towards Huebner Road. The trail is completely paved, and winds a gentle way through stands of oak trees, along and over and back and forth along the bed of Salado Creek. Which -…

Helotes, the Gateway to the Texas Hill Country
Written by Randy Watson
Situated just 16 miles from busy San Antonio is the historic and beautiful town of Helotes. Historic and beautiful, and meant to stay that way! For years, San Antonio has been trying to annex this uniquely peaceful community, but in 1981, the citizens of the town voted to incorporate into the City of Helotes, and the results have paid off. Rather than becoming just another district in the growing behemoth of San Antonio, Helotes is making its own decisions and calling its own shots these days, and is fierce in its determination to preserve the relaxed country atmosphere, neighborly way of life, and natural beauty that makes it such a…

Newest Public Park in San Antonio
Written by Randy Watson
Inaugurated on October 15, 2005, the Government State Canyon Natural Area, is an 8,622 acre area located just a few minutes drive outside of San Antonio, but once you\'ve arrived, you\'ll feel like you\'re in a different world altogether.
For those who feel at home amid the song of wild birds, the bubble of the brooks and streams, and the whistling of the wind through the Mesquite, Juniper, and Wild Oak trees of South Texas, the GSCNA is a wonderful new park to escape the traffic and travails of the city, and to relax in peace.
Although the area is still being developed, and can still be considered a work in progress, the park has been hosting…
