Medina Valley ISD (MVISD) is located off of FM 471 S, along the historic Medina River and U.S. Highway 90, fifteen miles west of San Antonio in Medina County. It is an area that is rich in German, French, and Spanish Heritage with many structures dating from the 1850's. The district was formed in 1959 by the consolidation of the schools in Castroville and LaCoste. The boundaries of Medina Valley ISD extend north to the Medina Lake area, south to Lytle and Natalia, west toward Hondo, and east to San Antonio.
